New Baby = New Renovations !!

With the upcoming arrival of our new bundle of joy in early March, we have decided to take on a few new renovation projects in the house! 

First we didn't plan on doing it, but our garage door (reno #1) crapped out on us so it's been replaced. It was older than dirt and G-H-E-T-T-O!  While I am glad that it is done, the cost of the new door & installation would of covered at least half of reno # 3 on our list!  We Hubby and his dad took the old door down themselves and took in the scrap metal which actually kept a little bit of cash in our pockets!

The obvious project for any new bundle of joy is that we will need a nursery (reno #2) ! We have decided to use the smallest of our extra bedrooms (currently was the Office) for Baby G's nursery. My job this last little while was to clear out the office...Yikes!
With this renovation we plan on:

• Replacing the old window (ourselves)
• New counter for the built in desk / change table?? (DIY concrete counter?)
• New Closet Doors? 
• Paint
• Light Fixture
• Window Coverings
• Furniture & Decor
• Relocate 'Office' stuff to guest room   First check off the list! Whoo Hoo!

We removed the trim to get the true measurement of the window.
Something we didn't do quite right with the first two windows we installed! ooops!

So the 'Office' stuff in officially in the guest room (thank goodness it is a spacious room) and we have ordered the new window. As for progression on this room, the window will take a little bit before it comes in and the old office/new nursery has currently become a storage room while we take on the task of renovation # 3!

Finally reno #3 is the main bath / ensuite.  We aren't lucky enough to have our own master bath, but the cheater door from our master is nice during the night for those pee breaks that seem to come more frequently now!  This is our only bath with a bathtub and will be the bathroom that Baby G will have its baths in.  We planned on doing this before the nursery so that A) I am not super pregnant, peeing 10x a night and having to go downstairs all the time & B) The dust from demo and tiling can settle and be cleaned up well before babe arrives. We have done a few things to the bathroom already to freshen it up when we moved in:

• Replaced the double sinks & old faucets
• Replaced the over sink lighting
• Replaced the broken toilet with a dual flush
• Replaced the broken window
• Replaced the broken exhaust fan
• Painted walls

With this project we plan on:

• Remove old floor tile & replace with new tile
• Remove tub & surround, replace with tile & new tub
• New tub & shower faucet
• New counter top
• Paint cabinets & straighten drawers
• Frame around the basic builder's mirror (as seen on pinterest)
• Paint walls - have to pick a colour first!
• New light fixture- more light

Hubby has been working state side a lot lately and we have been lucky to have him pick up the various supplies a little each day. We've already purchased the backer board, accent tile for shower, subway tile for shower, the bath tub, and tile adhesive.
